My belly is realy starting to round out at the top now that Monkey like to sit up there. Sitting is pretty uncomfortable some days with a tiny human wedged up under my ribs. But I have found that I can push the baby down out of my ribs a little bit if I walk and knead my hand down the side of my belly a few times. Pretty cool.
Tomorrow is my 2nd baby shower and I am SO excited to get to spill the beans about Monkey's gender. We've decided just to torture my friends a family a little more I am going make a game out of it. I've blown up 4 ultrasound pictures and pasted them on foam board. I've got little pink and blue post-it arrows and we're going have the shower guests write their name on the color post-it that they think the baby is (blue for boy, pink for girl...duh). Then they will have to stick it on the board pointing to the "part" they believe indicates the gender they've guessed. I'm really interested to see how many people get it right vs. wrong. As well as just how wrong they are. I really hope it's good for a few laughs. And I'm making the yummiest strawberry margarita cupcakes with key lime icing...mmmmmmm.
I think I'm getting sick! I've been feeling pretty cruddy for the last couple of days, but today has been the worst. I really hope it isn't the flu. I totally neglected to go and get my flu shot. I'm giong straight home after work, baking my cupcakes and going to bed to sleep all day! I sure hope I'm not getting sick!
I am really glad that we're taking Lamaze at a hospital other than the one we'll be delivering at. The hospital we're delivering at is one of the top in the country for neo-natal care. But, they are not known for being so accomodating to the mother's ideas for how she wants to labor. It's more about how convenient things are for them. The hospital we're taking Lamaze at (and where I would go for any other medical needs besides childbirth) is very patient oriented and much more accomodating to the mothers. So I feel like I've learned a lot about what is really medically necessary and why and what isn't. So I know what I can refuse to do if the nurses start telling me I have to do something that isn't necessary...For example: I have heard that my hospital will not let you get out of bed after your water has broken. Not even to use the bathroom! That's not even necessary unless the baby is sitting so high the cord might slip out. I sure as HECK am not going to let anyone stick a catheter in me until after I've had an epidural. And epidurals slow labor down. So if my water breaks at like 3-4 cm and I'm not ready to get an epidural they can just kiss my ass. My goal is to get to 7cm before getting an epidural...but I'm not going to box myself into that. If I'm hurting bad enough at 4 I will not be ashamed to fail to reach that goal.
